Malaysia Swimming Teachers’ Association celebrated its one year anniversary by organising a seminar on the 7th November 2015 from 2pm to 6pm. This was followed by a dinner. There were over 30 participants that signed up for the seminar. These participants came from various swim schools and individual member.
We are honoured to have Mr Garry Seghers, CEO of International Federation of Swimming Teachers Association (IFSTA)) and from the STA UK who presented two topics on “IFSTA International Teaching Accreditation” and “How to Swim Frontcrawl, Is there a right way?” . Other guest speakers include Mr. Ho Kok Yew who talked about legal aspect during teaching swimming and Mr Wong Tong Poh presented an interesting topic on “Emotion Unwrapped through Sports”
The main highlight of the seminar was the presentation of certificate of appreciation to three members who have swam a total of 10 km to raised fund for the Rumah KIDS, a home for underprivileged children. They gave a short presentation on this charity swim. Their efforts were impressed upon by many members and our guests.
We ended the seminar with a sumptuous buffet dinner and there were lucky draw for every members. The first prize for the lucky draw was a fully sponsored STA course.
This was followed by members taking photos with our council members and exchanged of contacts to network with one another. In the year 2016 we hope to organise a more interesting seminar for our members.
