Do you want to have the competence and knowledge to assist participants with a disability during aquatic activities?

This course is aimed at people who wish to enhance their Swim Australia™ Teacher certification and develop the skills needed to cater to learners with disabilities.

By completing this programme, learners will gain the expertise to recognize the unique requirements of each participant and ensure their safe entry and exit from the water. Learners will also learn how to provide tailored support during aquatic activities based on their individual needs and preferences. This programme will complement learners’ existing Swim Australia™ Teacher skills and expand their range of teaching abilities, making them a more engaged and inclusive teacher.

On successful completion of the course, learners will be will be accredited with the Swim Australia™ Teacher of Learners with a Disability license.

On successful completion of the course, learners will:

  • Have the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and teach water familiarization, buoyancy, mobility
  • Have the knowledge and skills required to prepare for and teach water safety and survival skills
  • Have the knowledge and skills required to identify the needs of participants with a disability, assist them to safely enter and exit the water
  • Have the knowledge and skills to provide support during aquatic activities suited to their needs and preferences
