MSTA PROFESSIONAL FOUNDATION COURSE, a course developed and initiated by MSTA vice president Wong Tong Poh. This course equips teachers with a step further towards providing a higher level of watermanship with a set of water skill competencies needed to execute self-rescue.
The ideology and formation of this course took place in 2019, Mr. Wong felt that there was a need to instill correct self- rescue skills to every child in order to reduce the drowning rates in Malaysia. In the aquatic field. swimming lessons were widely available to children in the urban areas. However, rural areas where much neglected due to lack of resources and pool availability.
Mr. Wong and a group of MSTA trainers met to iron out the course content. Discussions on practicality and the simplicity of understanding the context was much thought of. There are two components to the course, “Be a Safe Swimmer “ & “Be a Safe Teacher”. With the “Be a safe swimmer” module, MSTA is able provide this as a separate workshop.
This course is geared towards people that wish to embark into a new career as a swimming teacher. We hope to provide a simple and comprehensive program to all.
